With all the stigma surrounding alternative medicine, it may seem like most Americans would rather get a prescription drug than turn to a chiropractor, acupuncturist, or yogi. However, a recent survey administered by Consumer Reports shows that more and more people are opening their minds to alternative medicine–in fact, about 75% turn to alternative healing methods regularly.
More than 38 million people utilize alternative techniques, specifically for pain in the back and neck. The same study also evaluated how many Americans use standard drugs for common ailments. Researchers found that, of the individuals who utilized drugs to treat arthritis, only about half saw significant improvement of their pain. A significant number of the respondents have also used meditation, deep breathing, and vitamin supplements for their medical issues.
The alternative medicine field keeps growing as more patients are discovering the success of treatments like massage therapy and chiropractic adjustments. If you are interested in seeking alternative treatments, contact Austin Active Life Health & Wellness today.
