Treating Carpal Tunnel with The Graston Technique

Posted by admin on Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 in Graston Technique, sports injuries

The Graston Technique is an innovative form of soft tissue mobilization that allows scar tissue and fascial restrictions to be broken down.

This technique uses a stainless steel instrument that treats soft tissue fibrosis and chronic inflammation. Basically the instrument is rubbed over the skin. This allows clinicians to detect areas of pain (typically there will be a lumpiness that can be felt under the skins surface that indicates the damaged area underneath). The rubbing of the instrument over the damaged areas creates further inflammation which in turn has a positive effect in quickly breaking up the damaged tissue beneath that is causing the pain.

Conditions that are treated with this method range from sports injuries, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome to plantar fasciitis.

Graston Technique is effective in 75%-90% of all cases treated. The technique is drug free and currently used by major sports leagues and leading hospitals and universities.
