Fascial manipulation is the deep massage of malleable tissue otherwise known as fascia. This type of tissue is found throughout the body and surrounds blood vessels, muscles and nerves. There are several types including superficial, deep and subserous fascia and they run throughout the body from the head to the toes.
Benefits
- Relief of musculoskeletal and joint pain
- Reduces chronic shoulder pain
- Decreased pain from fibromyalgia
Fascia can hold pain and tension in many areas of the body and the goal of the practitioners at Austin Active Life is to release the tension by getting the tissue to slack. Fascial manipulation is commonly confused with rolfing which is a variation of fascial release.
